A tiny animal once reshaped Rocky Mountain wetlands; scientists are now building fake dams to bring the ecosystem back

Rocky Mountain National Park’s Kawuneeche Valley has lost much of the tall willow growth and beaver ponds that once defined its wetlands. The National Park Service describes the change as a rapid ecological decline.
